Dr. Gladys McGarey has been honored with the "Woman of the Decade" Award (2nd Annual NBAZ)

Dr. Gladys had dedicated her life to woman all over the world. If you've ever had your husband in the hospital birthing room with you, it's because Dr. Gladys worked with Congress for twelve years to pass "men's right to attend" births.

Have you ever had acupuncture? Dr. Gladys helped bring it into mainstream America. Because of her upbringing in India, Dr. Gladys has a reverence for all cultures. Her latest adventure was whilst in Afghanistan helping to lower the infant mortality rate by introducing safer/cleaner practices for maternity units and mothers.

Do you live in Arizona? Did a midwife attend your birth? Dr. Gladys legalized midwifery there.

The above are just two of the many things she has contributed. If you want learn more about this amazing woman browse her website or buy one of her many books.

Waterbirth With A Twist!

posted Nov 15, 2010 7:33 AM by Amanda Vermilion   [ updated Dec 6, 2010 5:33 PM ]

Just in! Blossom Birth and Wellness will be adding a supercharged Photonic Water Unit to their center.

What is Photonic Water?
Photonic Water emulates nature's original perfection. Photon (light) energy, when exposed to light, enhances and optimizes life itself.
Photonic Water is denser as it contains more oxygen due to tighter clusters of molecules.

What does this mean for you?
It means that during your visit or stay at Blossom Birth, the water you drink and the water your baby is born into is supercharged with life force energy.

Benefits:
  • increases our ability to absorb the nutrients in our food.
  • increases biomass of living things while using less water.
  • increases health and growth.
  • produces cleaner dishes and laundry (using less soap)
  • peace of mind that you and your baby are receiving clean, life-giving water free of chlorine and other contaminates.

Presenting Arizona's 2 New Birth Centers

posted Aug 28, 2010 9:47 PM by Amanda Vermilion   [ updated Sep 1, 2010 9:43 AM ]

Proudly presenting Arizona's two new birth centers: Blossom Birth & Wellness Center AND Babymoon Inn

What is a birth center? A birth center is a place where women can go to have their babies. It is a happy medium for those that prefer to stay away from the hospital and yet aren't 100% comfortable birthing in their home. Birth centers depict a setting much like that of a home complete with sit down area, kitchen, birth bed suites, birth tubs/bathroom suites, and office. CPM's (Certified Professional Midwives) are predominately the staff that are present, although some centers incorporate CNM,s MD's, massage therapists, etc.
Free standing birth centers are a convenient, safe, and comfortable environment for low risk women that cater to non-medicalised birth.

Blossom Birth & Wellness Center

Blossom Birth and Wellness Center provides prenatal care, birth and immediate postpartum and newborn care in our free-standing birth center.  Blossom is breaking new ground by uniting Nichelle Whitehead MD, Diane Bajus CNM and Mary Langlois, LM.   This is a truly collaborative space created to cultivate peace, love and healthy families.

We will have numerous offices providing space for massage therapists, doulas, lactation specialists, counseling, yoga and tons of educational/support classes. The birth center side of Blossom has two birthing suites to start and up to four in the future.

Babymoon Inn

Babymoon Inn birth center was born out of dreams of a midwife and the desires of women for an out-of-hospital setting for birth.   Babymoon Inn is a free-standing, out-of-hospital birth facility, licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services.

A birth center provides an option in Phoenix for low-risk women to experience birth in a comfortable, home-like setting where medical interventions are not employed.  Babymoon Inn provides a wide range of options and choices for moms in labor.  A beautiful jetted tub is available for water birth or for labor.  We have birth props and stools, labor balls.  Our lovely garden provides outdoor space and an inspirational work-in-progress mural where you can add your own artwork or be encouraged by those who have gone before you.   You are welcome to bring your family and may eat or drink during labor.
